In our ninth episode, we discuss astrology with our fantastic guest speaker - Prue Nichols. In this truly inspiring and eye-opening session, Prue shares some of her experiences and expertise when it comes to understanding ourselves - and our loved ones - a little better through our own natal charts.
THE SACRED WISDOM OF ASTROLOGY
In this episode we are highlighting the less discussed side of astrology and opening it up to being so much more than just your star sign - our horoscopes that we might quickly read for the month ahead.
Prue explains how she found herself becoming more involved with astrology through her experiences in Thailand and India, when she first departed from the corporate world. She noticed changes in both people an animals around the moon cycles, this started her off on her journey to learn more.
Prue talks about three really big influences in our birth charts - the sun sign, moon sign and rising sign. Our sun sign is our hero’s journey, what people may see on the outside - how we present ourselves to the world. Prue checks in with Sally & Sibby and asks what their sun sign is - they find out that they are both cardinal signs (idea people - visionaries) - well that’s always nice to know!
Where is your mercury in your chart? Prue explains that it’s our default communication style - how do we like to receive information and impart information?
So what is our moon sign? It’s our instinctive response - how we behaved as children before we started to adjust accordingly to our environment/social cues. The moon is how we nurture ourselves and mother ourselves - if we’re not feeding our moon we can’t be the best version of our sun sign.
Prue explains the influences and sometimes opposing needs of your sun and moon sign and how she used this knowledge to help her as a parent - some really fascinating insights were shared around this and how this approach helped to recognise her own needs. Something she now does for clients.
Prue talks about milestones, for example the Saturn return happens every 29/30 years - it happens when it has travelled the whole way around your chart and comes back to where it was when you were born - it’s like an initiation into adulthood, we start to think about what we want to do.
Collective experiences - the conjunction between Saturn (helps us to claim our authority and sense of sovereignty) and Pluto - known as Hades (the god of the underworld) happened in January 2020 and we all know what happened then! Prue explains we all have Pluto in our charts, it can unearth our ‘shadows’ and the collective shadows - exposing the rot. It’s worth noting that this conjunction also happened at the beginning of WW1, the cold war and the aids outbreak.
We’ve had Uranus (revolution/change) in Taurus since 2018 and Taurus doesn’t like change. Everything that was once safe has been turned on its head. This has been a collective experience that continues as more of us experience being shaken out of our safety zones and behaviours.
In 2023 Pluto is moving into the sign of Aquarius - the exposure is being ramped up. As we move into Aquarius - it starts the process of how do we build the new, how do we create our future going forwards? Prue chats about her thoughts on that and reassures us that we must focus on holding our own light - and what we can do and bring during this transition. We are all really important in this phase.
Prue brings us back to what she means by sacred astrology - she explains when we take our first breath, our natal chart is created. It’s a beautifully deep and unique guide, like a blueprint. It teaches us that the answers are within, knowing your chart is like finding the gold within - a true alchemy.
Prue offers a three week course to look at your sun, moon and rising sign - a small group on a Wednesday evening over three weeks. To find out more visit THE BIG THREE.
